Silas
Cheo
Who is silas cheo?
My work is focused on the anthropomorphism of creatures like cows, deities, or martians. The subjects in my work are not human, but we can relate to them through their activities. Throughout the work, figures are seen in performance as well as confusion with objects used in everyday life (cars, vacuums, couches, etc.).
Understanding cultural objects in context with the habitats they exist in interests me. Studying and working in paint allows me to meditate on the structures and influences put in place by our civilization. Without the will to understand our ancestors, we lose our identity. I do not wish to become an entity controlled and swayed by the internet or popular convention; rather one, absorbed in the teachings and lives of artists and thinkers of our past.
